As an independent, doctor-led aesthetic company, we’ve invested heavily in advanced technology. We’re focused on getting the best possible results for our patients. This means providing the most suitable treatment, safely and effectively carried out by trained aestheticians and doctors.
For best results, we also recommend certain aftercare guidelines. These will be confirmed at your consultation prior to treatment, but to give you an idea of what’s involved, we compiled a little useful table to help you understand what to expect in terms of your medical facial aftercare. It can also help you work out when to have treatment prior to a big event.
Some treatments have more stringent aftercare requirements than others, so do get in touch and let us help work out the best treatment option for your unique needs.
DOs
DON’Ts
Keep Hydrated
Proper hydration is key to maximising the benefits of your facial inside and out. Did you know that silica-rich rich mineral water supports the immune system and can help promote wound healing in addition to rejuvenating the body and protecting against the formation of wrinkles? That’s why silica-rich mineral water is our top recommendation for hydrating after your treatments.
Visit a gym, sauna or a steam room
Visiting the sauna/steam right after a facial could lead to irritation and broken capillaries. Hitting the gym is another no-go: increased heat and sweat can also irritate your freshly exfoliated skin, causing redness and inflammation. Wait a few days before resuming your normal workouts.
Exfoliate Weekly
Don’t start exfoliation straight after your treatment, as your skin needs to recover first. However, over the following weeks to come, you can happily establish a weekly exfoliation session to help keep your skin clear and radiant.
Wax, shave or have laser hair removal
Most facials involve deep exfoliation with professional peels to shed old skin cells. Having a hair removal treatment immediately after your facial runs the risk of over-exfoliating and burning your fresh complexion. To avoid discomfort and damage, experts advise spacing your hair removal appointments between 24 and 48 hours before or after your facial treatment.
Use SPF 50
After a facial, your skin is particularly susceptible to sun damage and its vulnerable surface can easily burn. We recommend SPF50 protection to everyone and especially after treatment.
Spend time in the sun without SPF
Simply don’t do it.
Just use your SPF every day, please?
Follow the routine set by your aesthetician
Your aesthetician has vast knowledge and experience of how to care for the skin. Ask for skin analysis so that you can visualise what your skin needs and choose a regime accordingly. Learn not to look at brands but at ingredients. Our therapists will happily share their knowledge with you, just ask.
Get creative with at home harsh peels or retinol treatments
Aesthetic therapists train to deliver treatments. They know exactly what, how and how long your skin can be exposed to active ingredients. Be sensible and ask your therapist for advice. Don’t get creative and risk side effects or unwanted results
