September Update from Dr John Quinn

Autumn is upon us! The kids are back at school and the evenings are definitely getting shorter. It’s nice to have a last little glimpse of sunshine but there is no doubt that Strictly and X Factor are back! 

It has been a really busy Summer at the clinics. I’ve been doing a lot of GP work alongside, which has kept me on my toes!

I’m just about to start a Dermoscopy course at the university of Cardiff. As you’ll probably know, I spent a year completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology 2 years ago. This has helped me no end in managing the common skin problems that present to us. Dermoscopy is a technique for examining skin lesions under a microscope. It has been shown to improve diagnostic accuracy and will become a routine if you come to see me for laser treatment. So don’t be surprised if I ask to examine you under a microscope in the next few months!

Jo Painter, senior therapist at the Bristol clinic is now trained to use our Lumenis One IPL. Jo has been using lasers for over 3 years now. She is highly experienced at laser hair removal and has spent the last number of months being trained by me to use the IPL for skin rejuvenation. I will still be available to do the treatment and all patients will need to see me first for assessment, prior to starting treatment with Jo.

We also have a new doctor starting at the Bristol clinic. Dr Juliette Pitts-Crick will be training with me for the next few months. As such I may ask you if she can observe while I carry out your treatment. Don’t feel obliged to but it would be most helpful! Her starting will ultimately mean increased availability of appointments moving forward. We may also require some models for various treatments. If you are interested, please let us know via email. Obviously you will need to be suitable for the treatment!

Lastly, just to let you know, I am away from Friday the 20th until Monday the 30th of September, so if you are considering seeing me in September, please call us ASAP!
