Visia 3D Camera – As Seen in Mail Online

Daily Mail OnlineMail Online writer Alice Smellie visited Quinn Clinics for sophisticated Visia 3D facial scanning to measure the effectiveness of a new treatment she was investigating in a feature entitled:

‘An £850-a-month oxygen chamber made me biologically younger: My skin looks brighter and clearer – and my risk of a stroke has gone down after this treatment beloved by billionaires’

Journalist Alice was testing the results of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) – an oxygen chamber, which she described as:

‘…lying in a metal chamber with a transparent sliding door above me and a thick grey mask over my lower face.’

The system promises a host of benefits from facial rejuvenation to physical improvements to the body too.

Alice says:

‘It’s the latest anti-ageing trend, albeit far more cumbersome than an LED light mask or hand-held gadget.’

HBOT treatment involves breathing up to 95% pure oxygen inside a high-pressure chamber. It is clinically proven to help with sports injuries, wound healing and head injuries. The FDA have even approved it for use in hearing loss and severe infection of skin and bones.

For scientific measurement of her experience, Alice said:

‘Before getting inside, I have detailed pictures of my face taken at the Quinn Clinic in Bristol, using Visia imaging to measure wrinkle depth, redness and pigmentation. I also do a comprehensive BUPA health assessment, including checking my heart and blood pressure.’

After a week of treatment, Alice finds improvements to her frozen shoulder and also feels her lung capacity is bigger for her regular walk and singing. In terms of her skin:

‘But what about my skin? After a couple of weeks it certainly looks brighter and clearer. Incidentally, I don’t change anything else in my lifestyle. Change is gradual, so I don’t notice wrinkles melting away, but friends start to comment on how fresh I look and even ask what I’ve ‘had done’.’

She returned to Quinn Clinics in Bristol for another skin scan and says:

.’…it’s the second Visia scan that’s mind-blowing. Aesthetic expert Dr John Quinn reveals my wrinkles have gone from the 56th centile (which is to say out of 100 women the same age as me, 46 have fewer wrinkles) to the 95th centile, so now only five out of 100 have fewer wrinkles. This confirms what I can see in the mirror.

The biggest difference is in the quality of your skin, especially under the eyes,‘ says Dr Quinn. ‘Pores are less obvious, there’s less puffiness, dark circles are reduced and your face has less redness.’

Alice concludes

‘I’d need to have regular sessions to maintain a youthful glow. Nonetheless, I’m grateful for the billionaire boost.’

Is HBOT chamber treatment feasible for me?

An HBOT chamber itself is costly, which is why it is referred to as a billionaire treatment. These high tech oxygen chambers cost around £60,000 to buy or £850 a week to rent.

At around 8ft or 2.5m long, it is also extremely bulky and unsuitable for the majority of homes.

However, the Visia 3D skin test is a lot more realistic for most people.

VISIA 3D Skin Health Check

At Quinn Clinics include VISIA skin analysis in the standard consultation process, which means that any client can benefit from this detailed insight into their skin health and ageing.

Visia 3D is the best technology available on the market. It provides accurate information right down to the subsurface layers of your skin and highly detailed imaging makes it easy to see what’s going on with a host of measures including:

  • Spots
  • UV Spots
  • Wrinkles
  • Brown Spots
  • Texture
  • Red Areas
  • Pores
  • Porphyrins

The centile comparisons referred to in the Mail article also show how Visia 3D compares to people of similar age, gender, skin tone and complexion.

This information is used to explain diagnoses and leads to appropriate recommendations on treatment and/or skincare regimes to improve your skin.
