Light Emitting Diode Treatment

Our new Harvey Nichols clinic now offers professional-grade Celluma LED Light Therapy treatment as part of the exclusive Quinntessential Facial.

Also known as ‘phototherapy’, LED is a completely non-invasive treatment that works by applying pure light to the skin, where it penetrates the inner layers to activate cellular healing and cell renewal.

This makes the treatment extremely versatile. LED treatment can be used to improve a variety of skin conditions as it simply stimulates natural repair and rejuvenation responses. It can be used for:

  • Anti-ageing – improving lines and wrinkles
  • Improving sun damage – including irregular pigmentation
  • Increasing fibroblast proliferation – leading to production of more natural collagen and elastin for firmer, tighter skin
  • Good complexion – promoting a healthy radiance and a more even skin tone
  • Helping conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis – by stimulating healing

Quinn Clinics deliver LED treatment using the very latest systems at our Bristol clinic inside Harvey Nichols.

It is particularly effective in treating the signs of sun-damage and ageing skin.

LED Facial Treatment FAQ

What is it used for?

LED is a really versatile treatment that can help to improve the skin from within. It promotes natural healing and renewal, which gives a general improvement to the skin as a whole.

As well as anti-ageing treatments, it is also useful in the treatment of conditions such as sun-damage and acne rosacea (redness).

What does the treatment involve?

A special hood-like device is positioned above your face, then LED light is delivered to your skin.

This is a non-contact treatment, it is completely non-invasive.

What are the side effects and recovery time?

There are no side effects or recovery time.

Your skin may have a healthy pink glow – more like a touch of sun than a sunburn. It can feel warm after treatment, but this is not excessive and passes quickly.

Can I have this treatment with a sun tan?

Yes, unlike laser or IPL, LED treatment is safe and suitable for all skin types including tanned skin.

What research is there about the benefits of treatment?

Laboratory studies have shown that when skin cells are exposed to certain LED wavelengths:

  • 150%-200% faster regeneration
  • Up to 600% better hydration

Research has shown that phototherapy can deliver a host of potential benefits, including:

  • increase circulation
  • accelerate tissue repair
  • destroy acne bacteria
  • reduce inflammation
  • improve skin tone, texture and clarity
How exactly does it work?

High intensity light emitting diodes (LEDs) utilising specific, proven wavelengths of light can trigger a natural biostimulatory effect in human tissues.

When LED is delivered, skin cells absorb particles of light (photons) and transform their energy into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a form of energy for cells.

The increase in ATP (cell energy) is then used to power metabolic processes e.g. synthesise DNA, RNA, proteins, enzymes, and other products needed to repair or regenerate cell.
