Lower Blepharoplasty
Lower blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid lift or eyebag removal surgery, is a cosmetic procedure that rejuvenates the lower eyelids by removing or repositioning excess fat and skin. Upper & Lower BLEPHAROPLASTY At quinn clinics
rejuvenate and refresh your appearance for a more youthful, well-rested look.
An upper blepharoplasty focuses on removing excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids to improve heaviness, drooping, or vision obstruction, while a lower blepharoplasty targets under-eye bags, puffiness, and loose skin beneath the eyes
to create a smoother, more refreshed appearance.
WHo is it suitable for?
You may be a good candidate if you have any of the following concerns :
- Saggy, droopy skin on the upper eyelids
- Hooded or heavy lids affecting your appearance or vision
- Bulging under-eye bags or puffiness
- Loose, crepey skin under the eyes
- A tired or aged look you wish to refresh
WHAT causes our eyes to age?
With age or certain medical or inherited conditions, the skin may lose elasticity, causing folds and excess skin in the eyelids that can sometimes overhang and reduce the field of vision. A weakening of the inner layers of the lids may also result in fat protrusion and ‘eyebags’. A Blepharoplasty treatment can remove excess skin and fat surrounding the eyes, improving their overall appearance.
How can a Blepharoplasty Help?
Aesthetic surgery can make significant improvements when excess skin or fat is present (although it may not correct all problems, such as fine lines and dark circles). It may also be recommended to improve the vision if the upper lid or lashes obscure the upper field of vision. An initial consultation will help determine how we can best help you address your area of concern.

WHERE WOULD THE PROCEDURE BE CARRIED OUT?
Excitingly, we have a new minor operating theatre at QC, which means the procedure can be carried out locally and comfortably without visiting a hospital.
How long before i see results?
Recovery varies among individuals, but most patients begin to see their new, refreshed appearance emerge as the initial swelling and bruising subside—usually within two to four weeks after the surgery.
Is the procedure performed under local anaesthesia?
Blepharoplasty surgery is usually performed under local anaesthetic, meaning you are awake. This makes the surgery very safe in terms of risk to general health and promotes fast recovery. Local anaesthetic is injected into the eye area to numb it; this stings initially, but then the operation should be painless. Local anaesthetic allows you to open your eyes if requested during the surgery; this is particularly important if the lid height is to be adjusted (ptosis surgery) simultaneously.
What does Upper Bleph surgery involve?
Measurements will be taken to assess how much skin can safely be removed. The incision is made along the natural skin crease of the upper lid, and the excess skin is removed. The amount of skin removed is limited by the need to leave enough skin to allow the eyes to close comfortably. If there are protruding fat pads, these may also be removed. Internal sutures (stitches) may sometimes be placed to sharpen the skin crease, and the skin incision is closed with fine sutures. Sutures may be dissolvable or may be removed in 5-7 days.
what is the downtime associated with a blepharoplasty?
The amount of time you may need to take off from work after blepharoplasty depends on your job and the details of your surgery. Most patients can return to office-based roles within a week to ten days. However, if your job involves physical activity or exposure to dust and other irritants, it may be wise to take additional time off. This will be discussed during your consultation to help you plan and prepare for your surgery.
