New! Powerful PicoStar® Laser Tattoo removal

The PicoStar® laser is the most powerful laser for advanced tattoo removal on all skin types and all ink colours. It’s precision results in faster clearance of the tattoo, fewer treatment sessions, and a minimal risk of skin damage.

PicoStar Laser Tattoo RemovalThe PicoStar ® laser has arrived at QC HQ to take its well-deserved place in our Laser suite. In addition to its advanced capability for skin rejuvenation (such as acne scarring & pigmentation reduction), it is one of the most powerful and effective lasers on the market for Tattoo Removal.

The PicoStar ® gets its name from the word ‘Picosecond’, a trillionth of a second, because of its ability to deliver ultra-short laser pulse durations at extremely high energy to break down tattoo ink more efficiently and with less heat than traditional lasers.

This means that we can effectively target a wide range of ink colours, from dark blacks and blues to vibrant reds and yellows more effectively than other more traditional lasers on the market. It’s precision results in faster clearance of the tattoo, fewer treatment sessions, and a minimal risk of skin damage.

One of its standout benefits is its superior ability to treat darker skin tones and all ink colours.

Safer for Fitzpatrick skin types IV-VI

The PicoStar ® laser is highly effective in removing or significantly fading tattoos in all skin types, including those with darker tones (Fitzpatrick skin types IV-VI), which have traditionally been more challenging to treat due to the risk of Hyperpigmentation. By delivering energy in ultra-short bursts mechanically rather than thermally, less heat is transferred to the surrounding skin.

More effective on dark & vibrant colours

Unlike traditional lasers, the PicoStar® is highly effective at breaking down tattoos across a broad spectrum of pigment colours, ranging from dark inks to challenging shades like blue and red.

Its dual-wavelength feature means that we can create a bespoke treatment that switches between ink colours and is tailored to the skin type. The 1064nm is ideal for dark inks and a deeper depth of treatment in darker skin types due to reduced melanin absorption. We can also use the laser at 532nm to target brighter colours, such as reds and oranges, and for more cautious applications on lighter skin tones.

Here are a few commonly asked questions about Laser Tattoo Removal:

How long does each treatment take?

Each session lasts between 10- 30 minutes, depending on the complexity of the tattoo.

Is the treatment painful?

Some discomfort is normal, often described as a rubber band snap or quick heat pulses. Most patients tolerate it well, and we can apply a numbing cream and cooling device to reduce sensitivity.

How many sessions will I need?

Most tattoos require between 4 and 8 sessions, spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. The exact number depends on the tattoo’s size, colour, age, depth, and your skin’s response.

Is it Safe?

Yes, it’s advanced technology minimises the skin’s exposure to heat, reducing the risk of side effects like scarring and Hyperpigmentation, which can be a concern with older laser technologies. It’s also considered safe for all skin types, including darker skin tones. Find out more.
