CQC Inspection Success – First Of Its Kind

tick resultsQuinn Clinics is celebrating a successful inspection by the CQC (Care Quality Commission) – the first of its kind in the UK.

Dr John Quinn says:

“We are the first independent medical cosmetic clinic in England to have completed our Engagement and Support call with the Care, Quality, Commission (CQC)

“The assessment covers four areas:

  • Safe care and treatment
  • Staffing arrangements
  • Protection from abuse
  • Assurance processes, monitoring and risk management

“We have been CQC registered since 2011. Not everything that we do falls under the scope of registration but our practice has been inspected on multiple occasions and is regulated. We are rated as ‘good’.

“This may not sound like a big deal but it takes a phenomenal amount of investment as well as constant work, mainly carried out by our amazing registered manager, Sharon Claridge

“We are proudly, a medical clinic.

“We may be open but it is certainly not ‘business as usual’ and won’t be for quite some time to come. Our first priority is the safety of our patients and of our staff.”

The Engagement and support call took place on 9th June 2020 and was carried out within the COVID-19 Emergency Support Framework in order to assess that Quinn Clinics is properly managing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic at its clinic, based at The May Wellness Centre in Bristol.

The full CQC report demonstrates that Quinn clinics had fully prepared for reopening. The CQC report summarises:

“The provider informed CQC that they had suspended provision of all activities on 18 March 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. CQC were notified of plans to recommence services from June 2020, initially with a limited range of activities. We sought assurances that the service would be able to comply with all current best practice guidance, including in relation to: –

  • infection, prevention and control measures.
  • supporting staff who are unable to work due to illness/self-isolation or caring responsibilities
  • updated action plans to address any existing breaches
  • all required equipment being compliant with required testing.

“We reviewed the assurances provided and completed an Emergency Support Framework engagement and support call on 09 June 2020. This covered the four assessment areas detailed above. We concluded from our assessment call that the provider was managing and no further support was required.

“We noted an area of innovative practice that may be shared with others: –

“The provider had produced guidance for clients including written summary and a ‘walk through’ video of what to expect before and during attendance at an appointment during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
