Having shapely, well-defined eyebrows is ‘in’.

Microblading and semi-permanent makeup seem to be more popular than ever for creating a better brow. But these treatments can only go so far in beautifying the brows.
Ultimately, the brows need to work in harmony with the forehead and the rest of the face and this demands more than colouring and tweezing. The overall shape and level of the eyebrows also play a key role – and these can be influenced in a good way (and potentially adversely too) through use of certain cosmetic treatments.
Cosmetic Treatments and Brows
Cosmetic injections can play a valuable role when it comes to the brow area.
BOTOX Injections
BOTOX wrinkle-relaxing treatment for forehead lines or glabellar (the vertical lines between the eyebrows) is one of the most common non-surgical treatments.
It is also a treatment that can actually shape the brows for better or worse overall impact.
- Brows that are too high or too arched can give the face a startled look. It can look over-sculpted and fake.
- Brows that are too low or too flat can make a person look tired or heavy. This can also look unnatural.
Neither is good and both could be accentuated through poor use of BOTOX.
On the other hand, BOTOX can be used in a very beneficial way to subtly sculpt and lift the eyebrows
- BOTOX can lift the brow line for a more youthful look
- A more open look to the face appears friendlier
- A more shapely arch is very attractive and this can be sculpted using injections
- Symmetry is generally considered important and appealing, but it’s said that 80% of middle-aged women have asymmetrical brows. BOTOX can be used to redress the balance
Dermal Fillers
Dermal filler injections can be used alongside BOTOX in order to lift the structure and facial tissues, supporting a better brow line. Again this is helpful for addressing asymmetry and lifting the brow. The skill for the practitioner is in providing a good result without going too far. To be appealing, results must look fresh and natural.
Skin Tightening
Nowadays it is not just cosmetic injections that provide good anti-ageing results. Advanced skin technology treatment options such as ultrasound, radiofrequency or laser can be used to promote new collagen production and cell renewal. The result is firmer, tighter skin and this has a bearing on the overall shape of the eyebrow as well as the smoothness of the forehead.
Brow Rejuvenation and Reshaping Treatments
Ultimately a combination of approaches may be appropriate for the most effective results.
The starting point is a consultation with Dr John Quinn. The 3D camera which is available for use in consultations gives a great insight and enables the client to see and discuss their facial anatomy in detail. Visibility of the whole face means that it is far easier to see how features work together as well as spotting areas of asymmetry.
