Research says that 61% of people across all age groups find the internet to be the primary source of treatment awareness.
The internet is a great resource for initial research, but Dr John Quinn is warning that it is no substitute for a consultation in person with a doctor.
“Google is a fantastic tool for finding information about all kinds of things and many of us now use it daily without thinking. As a company, we work hard to put out quality information on our own website to help clients learn more about the procedures that may be of interest. However, there are times when a web search will only go so far and aesthetic treatments is one of those instances.
“I would certainly not rule out the internet at all. For initial research, using the internet can be useful for getting outline factual information on a skin condition or a potential treatment – but when it comes to making the right decision, there are a great many personal factors to take into consideration.
“Choosing what treatment to have should be done with the guidance and input of an experienced practitioner in a consultation setting.
“At my clinics, consultations start with a medical history, which is vital to understand important clinical information. We review and assess the skin in great detail, often taking advantage of equipment such as the High Tech 3D camera and/or dermoscopy for precise and comprehensive picture of the client’s skin physiology. Then we have an extensive discussion about what the client is trying to achieve.
“Only then can we properly advise on the best skin treatment.”
Quinn Clinics in Bristol has introduced a hi-tech 3D camera which is now used in many skin consultations. This adds incredible insight and detail into understanding of the patient’s skin and facial anatomy by taking a three-dimensional photograph of the patient’s face and neck. This gives full visibility of the area of concern in the context of the whole face..
Use of the 3D camera allows the doctor and patient to agree a treatment plan which is very precisely targeted in terms of where dermal filler will be most of value to lift, volumise and rejuvenate the skin. Recording images enables before/after photos to be compared as well as providing a reference point for future treatments.
This kind of attention to detail makes skin consultations at Quinn Clinics uniquely comprehensive.
Quinn Clinics was established in 2006 and offers a full range of cosmetic, medical and laser skin treatments at its two clinics.
