In our latest video, Dr John Quinn explains common skin conditions for patients in their 50s.
He says:
“In our 50s, we start to notice the appearance of what are known as static lines. These are lines that are present not just on facial expression but also at rest.”

Skin Treatments in the 50’s
Dr Quinn says that wrinkle injections may be less effective for patients in their 50s and dermal fillers are a more important procedure for addressing these static lines.
Volume loss may also be more noticeable with the formation of jowls and deeper naso-labial folds and marionette lines. Again, dermal fillers are a good choice for a safe, effective, pleasing and natural look.
Patients in their 50s have often built up considerable amounts of sun damage and uneven skintone. Laser treatments can improve the colour, tone and quality of skin. Skin resurfacing can also be used. Quinn Clinics offer a choice of 2 systems here:
- fractional radiofrequency – much less downtime and requires a number of sessions
- fractional CO2 resurfacing – more effective after one treatment but has more downtime.
