Harper’s Bazaar – Ulthera for Toning Saggy Neckline

A survey by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery has shown that women’s greatest area of worry as they age is the lines on necks and chests.

Frown lines and facial wrinkles follow further down the list, but it is the delicate neck and decolletage which cause the greater concern, perhaps as they are so susceptible to showing the signs of age.

The skin on the neck and chest is sensitive and thin, which means that there is less natural collagen production as the stem cells that rejuvenate skin slow down.

The delicate skin is exposed to the sun too but tends to be less well protective. A foundation containing spf might be convenient for the face but is of little effect on the chest area.

Posture also has a role – as neck and decolletage are subject to creasing and hunching for those working at a desk or looking at a smartphone for a long time.

There are a number of treatments and products that surgeons, dermatologists and beauty companies have designed to tighten, lift, tone and smooth the skin of the neck and décolletage. Harper’s Bazaar champions Ultherapy ultrasonic treatment, saying:

“Top of the list of solutions to this pain in the neck is Ulthera, an ultrasound treatment”

The treatment works effectively on tightening the neck and jawline area, improving sagginess and bringing back a more youthful tone and shape.

Treatment works by directing ultrasound energy to a level 4.5mm below the surface of the skin, causing localised heating, which is a powerful stimulus of collagen production, making the skin firmer, stronger and more supple, while tightening the flesh.

Results build over a few months as the treatment works by stimulating the body’s own renewal processes.

Ulthera Review – Harper’s Bazaar

Harper’s reviewer said:

I’ve tried it and can report firmer skin and a tighter jawline. But take painkillers before you go.
