44-year old Uma Thurman is the latest celebrity to be on the receiving end of speculation about her use of cosmetic treatments and criticism of potentially going too far.
The Daily Mail piece Now what has Uma Thurman done to her face? Actress’ suspiciously smooth forehead and tight smile leave her almost unrecognisable said:
She is renowned as a natural beauty but Uma Thurman was almost unrecognisable at the premiere party for her new mini-series The Slap on Monday in New York City.
The 44-year-old actress turned heads for all the wrong reasons as she stepped out with a suspiciously smooth forehead and puffy face along with an extremely tight smile.
Experts agreed that Uma looked quite dramatically different and the lack of eye makeup added to speculation that she’d had a recent lower blepharoplasty treatment, also known as eye bag removal
In addition, experts commented that
‘Her face shape seems to have changed significantly – her face looks less defined. I would say that she’s probably had a recent course of strong chemical peels as well as some dermal filler injected into the cheeks and nasal labial area; which is all contributing to this swollen-looking finish as it can have this effect immediately after undergoing these treatments.
‘Her forehead is also very prominent and looks rather elongated, shiny, taut and line-free, which are all classic tell tale signs of regular Botox use. I would suggest that she’s had too much product injected into this area, which is contributing to her brow and upper eyelids looking very heavy.
The general response was that Uma looked overdone, although things might yet settle down if the treatments had been very recent.
Oscars and Anti-Ageing
For a Hollywood actress or actor to indulge in anti-ageing treatments is not at all unusual. Some are very public about what they’ve had done, while others remain tightlipped
Certainly the need to look your best on screen demands attention to physical appearance and ageing must be handled very carefully.
However, it’s a careful balance. Looking ‘overdone’ incites criticism and comment just as much as looking ‘unkempt’.
There is no need to appear frozen or puffy. The latest cosmetic medicine techniques are designed to freshen the skin and features without changing the overall recognisability of the face.
Cosmetic injections remain a popular choice – botox and dermal fillers.
Yet there are also treatments designed to improve the skin from within for a very natural look which is achieved through boosting the body’s own mechanisms for building collagen and elasticity. Consider the Sublime™ treatment which combines infrared light and bi-polar radio frequency energies to tone saggy skin for a more youthful look and new CO2 fractional laser.
