Winter wreaks havoc on almost every part of our bodies. The shorter days begin to make us feel miserable and run-down, and chapped lips are commonplace.
We pile on the pounds with a myriad of mince pies, and develop a particular taste for mulled wine and sherry. It’s not only our diet that suffers, as skincare becomes a complicated business.
The harsh winds and cold weather beat away and cause dry skin. As the Christmas party looms ever closer, it’s difficult to think of how we’ll pamper ourselves back to perfection.
So we bundle up indoors, turn the heating up, and comfort ourselves with some more festive food. Skin then may begin to flake and crack even more, and some of us even experience mild eczema. Our skin dries out on account of the cold weather, but it also dries out because of the central heating that’s cranked up to the max. It’s a dire conundrum.
But there may be a solution: the quintessential facial. Including a gentle, cleansing chemical peel, the facial also employs a deep exfoliating microdermabrasion treatment.
The facial begins with a gentle cleanse, and a preparatory lotion is applied. Two layers of vitamin C fruit acid peel are then smothered over the skin, topped with wet gauze to activate the peel. After the peel, sterile crystals are sprayed over the face with a Dermgenesis machine and removed. You may experience a little tingling, and even a small amount of redness after the facial, but your skin will be smooth, supple and ready to face the winter weather.
It’s also great for dull or uneven skin tone, acne, pimple problems, and clogged pores. Combine the facial with a more intensive moisturiser with an SPF of 15, and you’ll be prepared to face winter’s worst. What’s more, your Christmas make-up will go on like an absolute dream, leaving you ready to merrily face the mistletoe.
